Research

Biomass energy plays an ever-greater role for energy supplies, both from a national as well as an international standpoint. Växjö Energi actively takes part in the ongoing development of this energy form through its' conscientious enlargement of biomass based production of electricity and district heating. Contacts with researchers and engineers are extensive, something that actively helps to a continuous refinement of methods and technology, not to mention the build-up of a large knowledge base.

Växjö is a forerunner in Sweden when it comes to the transfer to renewable energy sources. Correct timing and a fruitful interplay between positive economic and social factors have made biomass energy commercially viable in Växjö.

Växjö Energi actively promotes research and development within the biomass energy field in order to being able to refine our own field of action and to lay the foundations for future investments and commitments - especially in the environmental field.

Växjö Energi have co-operated in the founding of The Biomass Energy Centre at Växjö University in order to tie knowledge and competence together within the biomass energy field. Our cogeneration block Sandvik II and the local heating plant at Ingelstad are continuously used for various research projects. Research also take place in the trade associations Svebio, Svensk Energi, Värmeforsk and Svenska fjärrvärmeföreningen.
